Sunday Morning

Met the kids and granddog for coffee and breakfast. What a great way to start the day. Saw dolphins and surfers at the beach, too! LOVE IT!!! Life is good.

Garden Flower in Morning Sun

See how I wax poetic on my days off? I think and act more like an adult...well, sort of. But I did grow this lovely flower from a bulb. Darned if I can recall it's name at the moment. Several more are in odd places in my yard. Me thinks I ought to group them together.

Emptiness...

Why is no one in line?

Why are there no kiddies running on the playground?

Why is the hallway empty?
Because it's Labor Day Weekend and there's no school for 3 whole days. Yipeeeeeeeee!

Waiting for Lunch

It took ever so long to get all the gang facing FORWARD to get ready for lunch. They are very active the first few weeks of school. A big change from Kinderland. Most would be better off with a transition year between K and first...

As Ready As I'll Be This Year

Center of Power: Room With a View (of the room):
I'm starting wih 12 boys and 8 girls.

I have no mind set at all about the class or students before the first day. Everyone starts out lined up evenly and the whistle blows to start the year. By the end of the first day some have pulled out ahead...some are deciding whether to run or not...some sit down and refuse to start.

Really Crabby

This is how I will most likely be for a while...crabby and tired as I start the new school year. I happened on this little guy on my beach walk and he let me take his picture to represent the first week of school!

Backyard Beauties

Grew these myself. Must remind self to water...:when school starts". Honestly. When things get into high gear I have to make lists to be sure all the basics get done...like watering plants!

Last Weekday Beach Day

Yup! The last one for awhile. School starts officially on Monday and I need to be there instead of doing my beach thing. Paying the dues. Will miss this view of the surf up close.

Getting Set Up

The sign's in the window and the room is getting ready. Got my computer moved to my desk and feel almost like a professional. I won't have to sit in a kid's chair by a kid's computer to do my teacher type work. Now if only my printer would behave!

White Flowers in Cactus

Found these white flowers growing amidst cactus in Sedona last spring.

Thinking of far off, fun places helps me as I get back to the craziness of starting the 2008-2009 school year...my 32nd of teaching! My first class of second graders (in the 1972-1973 school year) are now turning 40!!! I don't feel much older than that myself...

Heart Art

Found this heart on a parking space stripe in the mall. Made of oil spots or gum or something. I think it's in the "Found Urban Art" category. I found it! Honest! It's not a set up or fake. I plan on looking for more hearts wherever they may be hiding.

Summer Is Fun...and fading fast...

Summer is the most fun with a relaxed schedule and sun and sand...added many bits and pieces to the beach glass collection today...plan another trip to the shore and waves this PM. Living close to the beach is wonderful...I am reminding myself of that as my free time fades away into the beginning of school chaos. I must pay the price...

Garden Angel

The garden angel is thinking about the summer's end. Thinking it's too bad the nice lady who lives in the pretty yellow house can't be home as a career instead of being gone away all day.

Best of Intentions

SIGH! I did really have the best of intentions thinking I would blog my heart out all summer...and I turned around and it's August 3rd. Tomorrow I call school to see about getting my rooms keys back. OH CRAP! Crappola. Double crap. Why oh why couldn't I have been a princess? ...and the whining starts...
