Journal Page

Views of a journal page. Need to work on the photographing part...need a good camera. Need to just keep at it because I'm just at the beginning of all this...and to be patient with myself... and keep trying just like I tell the wiggle worms who are learning to spell and read and subtract...

Beach Walk

Saw a large pod of dolphins.
It became quickly foggy.

It started out sunny with a far off bank of clouds.

Found this perfect heart shaped rock at the beach this morning.

Laughing Buddha

Why is the Buddha laughing? Is it the pink jewel added to his belly? NO! It's the 48 glorious hours ahead with no little people asking their teacher to feel how sweaty they are after recess. No pushing, pulling little beings to line up, sit down, stand up or herd anywhere. No math! No spelling! No reading! The Buddha laughs for many reasons...

View From the Old Bridge

This is looking the other way from the old bridge off the highway in the post from a day trip a few days ago. Going anywhere...escape...seems wonderful.

More Exploration Photos

Have to share more of my pics from the day trip up the coast. Either that or go into detail about trying to round up little people who would rather throw sand and tattle. Some deep breathing and visual imagery seem to calm their teacher.

New Day Purity

It's a new day and a Saturday at that! Ahhhh... this white rose from my garden stands for the wonderfulness of 2 whole weekend days ahead. Beach, art, garden, who knows what delights await?

Friday Night Confessions

I yelled too much. I stomped around the room. I had a temper tantrum. I yelled some more. I tried being quiet. Many times. I was patient. Many more times. I thought perhaps after 32 years I just didn't have it in me anymore.
Then it was Friday. 17 days under my belt and only 163 until summer. I will survive.

They Are Winning

The little people have triumphed over one tired o teacher this week...Are you old? They ask me. Is is lunch yet? Is this a 2 recess day or a 3 recess day? Do we have homework? Why do you have those funny lines on your legs? My mom says I can go to the bathroom whenever I want...

Sunset On Beach

If you look carefully you can also see wind surfers. TGIF!

3 Martini Lunch?

Kick back day. Nothing to do but put up my feet and think about my 3 martini lunch...NOT! I put up the feet after school because I couldn't move from being so flippin' tired. The little people won today. Their high spirits and tattling made this shot the best I could come up with...

Corks

I almost...for about 30 seconds... had all the corks under water at the same time...or maybe it was 20 seconds. On reflection it was only as long as it took to point and shoot and even then I noticed one cork bobbing his head up to look.

Palm Trees Outside Room 3

As my sister would say..."That's soooo California!" Can't climb 'em exactly but fun to have right outside my door.

Doors of Ireland

Who can resist the doors of Ireland? They are colorful and enchanting!

Beautiful Scrolls

These are from First Lutheran Church, Los Angeles, where I spent many happy years. Now no longer a church...hopefully to be preserved somehow or repurposed as an art center or mixed use property.

Day's End

The day ended with my feet hurting from a blister (oh why can't I wear flip flops everyday?) and me tired. This class needs much structure...can't turn my back for a minute. Lots of discipline issues. How hard can it be you ask innocently? Aren't they "just" 5, 6 or 7? AHHHHHHHH! So far I've dealt with stealing, bad language, rock throwing, threats to other students, beating up someone at lunch and jabbing with pencils. AND THESE ARE THE GIRLS! My work is cut out for me. My antidote is...end the day at the beach.

Miniature Roses

Grew both of these beauties myself in the front yard. The plants are small but the flowers are nearly perfect!

Last Little Kitty

We had 2 dogs and 3 cats and had to put 4 of our pets down over the last two years. They were old and sick and we miss them. This is Constance, the last of the crew. She is a sprightly 18 years old and is adjusting to being our one and only.

Labor Day

Labor in my garden (one of my preferred pursuits) resulted in the beautiful cosmos flowers growing by my front door. Laboring as a monkey whisperer is much more tiring! Glad to have an extra day...
