I failed to mention the 10 pounds worth of old sheet music I scored in the Great Thrift Store Adventure in Saturday's post. Lady Lemonade will be giving away 10 sheets to ten people. Let me know if you are interested by Wednesday, December 3, 2008 by leaving me a comment...

Thrift Store Scores! No Malls Needed!

Nothing tugs at Lady Lemonade's heart strings like a day or two of junking. Found deals and treasures galore...

Two aprons and a hankie in 50's patterns at 95 cents each will be great additions to our vintage Christmas collection.

This sweetie came from an old May Company before they did bar codes so she's over 25 years old. Highest price at $1.99.

Rescued this little guy from a box of slightly used ornaments for a quarter.

An Oklahoma state plate to add to the other 26 states already found...and only 99 cents!

Anoher of the Benihana drink mugs for the collection...and a freebie!

A mere 50 cents for this old, soft embroidered pillowcase.

There was more...a linen blouse in light teal, a silk shirt, white linen tablecloth, hand made lace edging, plastic matting for journal stencils, 2 sturdy baskets, a couple of gifts, and all for $28.00. WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' MALL!!!

Mail Art Gift

Got these wonderful things via Snail Mail from M. A.'s blog give away (Dispatch from L.A.--wonderful blog! Give it a gander.) Now have more goodies to glean ideas from! Thanks again, fellow monkey whisperer!

Portrait Done

I had my portrait done. The artist included herself. I am the one with blond hair and blue eys. A good likeness don't you think?

Constance stayed home today to guard the Little Yellow House on the Hill. She did not have to get 20 giggling bodies under their desks to practice for the BIG ONE. She did not have to explain that she really didn't know when the earthquake would come (teachers know everything) at least 20 times. No wonder she looks calm.

Artistic Heaven

Just finished two days of a collage class with Traci Bautista ( and her dog Freedom!).
She showed us how to use many different materials to paint, stamp, color wash, and doodle various papers.

We ended up with a variety of wonderful pages...

and learned many of the techniques presented in her book, Collage Unleashed.

We bound our papers into a journal by the workshop's end finishing 2 days in ARTISTIC HEAVEN. So much better than real life.

Visions in Ale

Found heart image in drink glass....sent to me by the drinker herself...thanks, KLB! How many did you have to go through to get this one?

Heart in a glass of beer. Hmmmmm. What is the hidden message? Retire early? Drink more? Don't go to work tomorrow?

Never Enough Rain (on the weekends)

Wet and beautiful looking down on the bestview point around. There's never enough rain for me. How I wish we had much, much more of this wonderful weather pattern here.
Hillside view of the city on a rainy morning. It smells good and looks fresh and clean and if it's the weekend it means no rainy day schedule(which means NO break from the kids in the room all day).

You know...the kind with thunder and lightning and a gray sky. Wet. Cozy. Got to use the wipers. Drove up the coast and saw surfers in the rain and runners in the rain and bikers in the rain. Good thing we did because now it's all gone and the sun is out so the surfers, bikers and runners can dry out.
