Day Trippin'

Took a day away from the coast and headed inland for different views. Saw Solvang and Lake Casitas and the rolling hillsides north of here.

Orange is Not a December Color

But oh what great garden bounty from our own dwarf Satsuma tangerine tree in the backyard of The Little Yellow House On the Hill. Wish I could share them in person for they are sweeeet!

Great Tree Bark

Found this great bark on the tree (also pictured) in an unassuming parking lot in my travels. Another reminder to keep one's eyes open to the fun things right under one's nose...and have the camera ready.

Looking the Other Way

The usual picture I post is of the shoreline. Here is the view from the beach looking toward the hills. If you look closely you can see the "V" on the hillside for the community college.

Alone On the Beach

Headed out to the beach again with coffee to look for beach glass and heart shaped rocks...on Monday morning! No wonder I was alone for awhile. I love vacation. Never, ever bored. Ever.

Journal Page

Did this journal page on Thanksgiving Day and am just getting around to posting it. Want to put more art work up but have trouble getting photos to come out the way I want them to...everyone else's look way better. It's something about the lighting and I have to figure it out...or the background...or the photographer! Maybe with 2 weeks off for Christmas and some peace and quiet when not exhausted will help my quest for better pics of art!

Fun Found Lettering

Finding great sign lettering is one of my new/old favorite things to do. I have always enjoyed printing, lettering, signs and so on. Have a little trouble with true calligraphy since I am more of an "approximate" person and get tense if things have to be just so...but print in out of the way places is so fun!

View From the Playground

Once in a while during our "WINTER" season we can get this view from the school playground. I had yard duty this week and took a shot of the Topa Topa mountains in the distance covered with snow. It's a good thing I took this on Wednesday because by today it was all melted...

Palm trees and clear down here...snow about an hour's drive away and still in our county.

Weather Weenie Land

It was 50 degrees at high noon here today. Windy. Cold. So windy there was a weather advisory...and so cold we had students scrambling for jackets to wear. Really. Welcome to the land of the WEATHER WEENIES! Winter such as we know it has arrived.

Morning Quickies

Snapped these this morning about 7:00AM as I dashed into the coffee shop for my morning joe...and went to work anyway. Only 3 more days until vacation!

Cold Beachy Sunday Mornin'

Even dogs were cold this morning! Came across these two sweeties in their tie dyed coats out for a walk with their owner who graciously let me snap their pictures. Are they California dogs or what?

And of course there was the beach...so much the same yet forever fascinating with the light, shadows, wind, cold... I never tire of it all. Any day at any time is beach weather for me. I actually enjoy it more than in my younger days...

Vintage Christmas

Everything here is vintage Christmas collected from thrift stores and garage sales. Dug out of boxes of "junk"...you know, the take it all for a dollar stuff no one wants. Didn't pay much for any of it which makes putting it all together lots of fun...

Beach Glass

Found this handful of beach glass on my Saturday morning-coffee-at-the-beach start to my weekend. Could have stayed all day but as usual errands and appointments and REAL LIFE pulled me away too soon. Working takes up way too much time during the week shortening my "free time" considerably. I might have mentioned this before...
